Has anyone had a chance to try the 2007s yet? Have they even been received yet????

Anyways, saw that TEN received an 89 and Southing received an 88 in WS and was surprised by the scores. Figured these to be much higher, especially considering the pedigree and vintage.

But, as always, FWS.

Why would they even submit to Spectator?

I haven't had the '07 yet but I have a lot of it coming. I'll let it sit for a few weeks and then taste the Southing and Botella.

Not sure they do submit to WS anymore... WS do buy bottles on the open market and review them (SQN for example)

because spectator has given them high scores in the past, ldo

another POV to take into account, when I was talking to michael browne back in may, he said that he likes submitting his wines to people like Meadows who may hate his wines as he wants as many different professional opinions as possible and that he also enjoys getting different professional opinions on his wines. He knows that Burghound will most likely not give them great scores, but that they will also be honest with him too

On the shelf?

Keith, how much earlier do the shops get the wines than the list?

not gonna say how long ago my store had them, but we have had both the ten and southing for over 10 days, but under a month

other stores in the area have had bottles of southing and ten for at least a week, and this is just based on me getting emails, so I'm sure that they had some before that, that went to preferred customers

Man those are some sad little scores for a producer with their rep. The message is make sure your guests see the labels before they drink so that they know to be impressed.

WS rated the 2007 vintage as superb, but then has been less than impressed with most of the Pinots from outstanding producers. I never know what to make of their ratings of any pinot based wines.

If my allocation were ever to creep past a few bottles, I'd sneak a peek.

Remember, Sea Smoke gave folks the option to p/u their allocations at the winery in June, maybe that's how some shops got theirs earlier.
