 This wine just keeps coming....
This is the 6th bottle I have had in the last year and I have yet to score it under 95 points.......here is the note from tonights bottle:
Nose of blood, iron, smoked/cured meat, spice, savoury sour cherries and saddle leather
Palate shows iron, minerals, licorise, dried blood, tar, charcouterie, and sour cherries and strawberry creamsicle with medium tannin and medium + acid
The finish is medium with bitter shaved chocolate, wet leather, subtle pipe tobacco and blood, iron, sopressatta, and sour cherries. This is so layered and complex.....wow just such great wine. The finish comes in waves...only thing holding it back is that it could be a bit longer.... 96 points.

It's pretty clear that this has been a standout for 99 BdM...it's great that you've had enough bottles to give it multiple visits. Thanks for sharing...

This is probably one of the mose consistant bottles that I have ever had....I have onlyhad the 99 cerretalto once and it was not in the same league as the the Tenuta....

Decanted for 25 minutes.
Nose of charcouterie.....gorgeous cured meats, iron, tar, black tea, red licorise, sour cherries and leather
Palate shows spice, strawberry creamsicle, sour cherries, leather, licorise, savoury oregano and medium+ tannin and medium acidity....touch of heat.
Finish is medium with dark chocolate, sour cherries, sweet pipe tobacco, licorise
This is not quite as layered as other bottles.....the finish also appears to be a bit shorter than normal.......
1st bottle that was not classic for me...... 93+points
I'll revisit it in 30 minutes and see if there is a change in my score.

It's funny...I'm drinking a wine tonight that I have been in love with for the past 6 months...and tonight it's just "meh" bummer...

Way beyond my usual Monday night wine, but a call from Joe G got me interested in popping one of these.

Beautiful Maroon red color. Nose of cherry/boysenberry, vanilla, cedar and violet florals. Taste is sour cherry/berry, cedary oak, florals and mediterranean spice. Long finish and a meaty midpalate. Depth of aromas keeps on coming. Meaty, vanilla and licorice as the wine warms an aerates. Tannins are smooth but still firm. Still tastes fairly young. Delicious, and an easy 94 pts

was going to open 97 cerratalto tonight but went here instead.... beautiful savoury, umami aromatics with raw meat, iron, oregano, cigar box, leather, sour cherry, green tea... voluptuous mouthfeel leads to a very long, layered, lingering finish... great complexity to this wine.. as gene says, plenty of structure left but it is restrained and approachable.. 95

As the wine aerates, the meat, leather and oregano are there, and there is a a definite umami overtone. Now that you mention it there is a bit of green tea on the backpalate. I'm a huge tea head, and I'd love to see it more in wine.

Thanks for the inspiration.

Jipin Tribute Lung Ching for me.

We never got to see if he wine faded after 6 hours. My nongeek wife absolutely adored this wine, and once it fully opened up, it was gone. A very nice Monday evening, though.

Sounds beautiful. I'd love to have the space to devote to something lke that. I have a little breakfront in the dining room with a Chinese tea table and a collection of yixing and gaiwans. A pantry nearby holds the tea. Most of the space is for aging pu-erh (which helps process alcohol, by the way).

I don't spend much time on Facebook, and it is amusing to see that some of my most active friends there are tea merchants.

i am going to try more pu-ehrs in the upcoming months.. i am hit or miss on them.. my tea instructor , shabnam weber, owns a few tea boutiques in toronto... she was the most well spoken, informed lecturer i have ever had in my life... she really turned me on to tea from that
